The newly-inaugurated Governing Council for Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, led by Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen on Monday held its inaugural meeting as part of its commencement of work to reposition the University.

The University’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council who arrived at the campus in Ekpoma on Monday with other members of the Council immediately commenced a fact-finding and assessment tour of structures and facilities in the University.

Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen and the other members of the Governing Council who were conducted round by the Management team led by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, had the opportunity to see things first hand by themselves.

At a well-attended interactive session with the academic and non-academic staff of the University, the Pro-Chancellor informed the mammoth crowd of employees that “our appointment into the Governing Council of the University is intended to add value, help to navigate a path to restoring the lost glory of the University.

“We will provide an all-inclusive leadership that would allow for everyone to contribute his or her quota to the growth of our dear University. This is just the beginning of our interactive moments as we intend to interface and consult with all the Unions in the university.

“My dear people, my brothers, my sisters and my co-workers, God has heard the cries of Ambrose Alli University. We have heard about the plethora of problems and we are determined to tackle them headlong with your support and prayers.

During the main interactive sessions, members of staff had the opportunities to ask specific and direct questions to which the Pro- Chancellor provided answers. “Going forward, we will constitute a Reconciliation and Peace Committee that would be made up of all stakeholders and interest parties in the University community, where issues that may have generated animosity among us would be straightened, appeased, and resolved amicably in the interest of us all”, said Dr. Frank Odafen.

After the consultations with the teeming members of staff, the Pro-Chancellor and other members of the Governing Council then entered into a closed door meeting with the Management team of the University.
