World Literacy Day: State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Hails Lions International

Benin City – The Lions International, District 404-A4 Nigeria has been commended for its contribution in supporting quality basic education delivery for the Edo Child.
This commendation was contained in a letter signed by the Director, School Support Services on behalf of the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Mrs Osavize Salami and addressed to three Clubs in District 404-A4, namely, Benin Royal, Benin City Central and Ovia Doyen in preparation for the joint World Literacy Day project of the 3 clubs.
The Education Board stated it looked forward to further collaboration with the Lions International.
The World Literacy Day Project is part of the service projects of the Lions International to support and deepen Literacy among students and to encourage the culture of reading and assimilation through the Reading Action Programme (RAP).
The joint World Literacy Day Project of the clubs will hold today at the Adesuwa Primary school, opposite St. Philomena Hospital, Dawnson Road, by Mission Road in Benin City.
Lion members and other members who will attend in solidarity are encouraged to adorn their Lions vest to attend the event.
It will be recalled that the District Governor, D404-A4 Nigeria, Lion Prince Osadebamwen Monday Okoro on October 9 kicked off the exercise by mobilizing members in the District to Egban Primary school in Benin City where books and other educational materials were donated while students who excelled in the Reading Action Programme coveted several prizes.
Speaking on behalf of the 3 clubs, Lion Barbara Osezua, President, Benin City Central Lions Club stated that the exercise will also include a RAP component and award of prizes.
