Tenebe Vows To Redeem $3,000 Pledge To Bendel Insurance FC Despite 2-1 Loss
…Commends Team’s Impressive Performance
The Leader of Edo State Government Delegation to Lafia,Nasarawa state to support Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League match against Nasarawa United ,Emperor Jaret Tenebe has promised to redeem the $3000 (Three Thousand Dollars) he promised Bendel Insurance FC players despite suffering a 2-1 defeat in the hands of the hosts.
Emperor Tenebe made the promise in a chat with sports journalists immediately after the Match Day 14 encounter at the Lafia City Stadium on Wednesday evening.
” Despite the fact that my team lost by 2-1 to Nasarawa Utd,I will still give them the $3000 Dollars. I announced the amount as rewards for them just to motivate them. I watched the game from the beginning to the end and I was impressed with the performance of our team. It was a good game and I think our players need more encouragement. I made the promise and not Edo state government and I will still redeem my pledge because they played very well. ”
In display of his commitment to the progress and well-being of Bendel Insurance FC, Edo State Governor His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, sent a delegation led by the Edo State APC chairman Jaret Tenebe to boost the morale of the Benin Arsenals ahead of the match against Nasarawa Utd
Emperor Jarret, who arrived at Lafia in the company of Hon Frank Ilaboya, delivered the Governor’s message to the team, saying that he has brought warm greetings from the Edo State Governor
In the tension soaked match,Victor Collins opened scoring for Nasarawa Utd in the 9th minute while Qamar Adegoke sealed victory for the hosts in the 51st minute of the game.
Insurance captain Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi had cancelled Victor Collins early goal in the 24th minute to end the first half in a 1-1 stalemate.
On resumption of the second half,another defensive error occurred on the side of Insurance FC, allowing Qamar Adegoke to restore the lead and eventually seal victory for the Solid Miners six minutes into the second half of the match.
Bendel Insurance FC who are currently battling to come out of the red zone suffered another away defeat in the hands of Nasarawa United as a result of defensive blunder. The Solid Miners who suffered similar fate at Plateau United FC,Jos last week did everything to frustrate the Benin Arsenals who showed hunger and thirst in trying to get an equalizer.
Insurance gallantly lost the match day 12 match 3-2 to Rangers International in Enugu and bounced back with a 3-1 home victory against Kwara Utd on Sunday.
The Benin Arsenals, according to the head coach Greg Ikhenoba during the post match interview said that his team prepared well for the game against Nasarawa Utd but unfortunately they did not get the desired results.
” Despite the setback today, I am impressed with the performance of my players.” We know the position we are in the league and will continue to work hard so that we can fully recover before mid season. The situation we find ourselves is not good but I am confident that we can bounce back ” Coach Ikhenoba said.
