Publisher Of Esan Magazine, Peter Iwelomen Bags Leadership Award

The publisher of Esan Magazine, Mr. Peter Odia Iwelomen has been honoured with an exceptional Leadership and Development Award 2024 as Legendary Media Personality of the year.

The award of honour on Iwelomen according to the project coordinator, Sunny Duke Okosun is “An initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating exceptional leaders and organizations for their community impact” adding that it is targeted at “Emerging leaders from various sectors, including business, government, non-profit and education.”

While stating that Iwelomen is being honoured to recognise and reward him for his outstanding leadership and to serve as an example in the promotion of a culture of excellence in leadership development and practices, Okosun noted that the award will also serve as an opportunity to re-orientate the youths on the right values and virtues as demonstrated by Iwelomen and other awardess.

“The Leadership and Development Initiative is a vital program that will empower emerging learners to drive positive chain their communities. By providing training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we can develop a pipeline of effective leaders who can address the complex challenges facing our society. We believe that this initiative will have a lasting impact on our communities and contribute to the development of a new generation of leaders.”

Chairman on the occasion and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Pius Alile thanked Sunny Duke Okosun for his hard work and dedication to duty which according to him fueled the recognition of the awardess and their contributions to the development of their communities.

Alile also eulogised Iwelomen for his contributions to societal development over the years with the publication of Esan Magazine and The Correspondent Newspapers.

Peter Odia Iwelomen is the publisher of Esan Magazine and The Correspondent Newspapers and pioneer of community newspaper publishing. He has used the two tabloids in the last three and a half decades to direct government’s attention to deplorable state of social amenities and hold government accountable to their promises to the people. The two tabloids have become a voice for the voiceless and continued to challenge oppression and injustice in the society.

Responding, the awardee, Iwelomen thanked the organisers and Sunny Duke Okosun for the recognition, noting that he was just using Esan Magazine and The Correspondent Newspapers to raise issues of development before the government as part of his contributions to societal development and unknown to him that there were people out there watching him. He assured that the award is a call for further work to advance humanity.
