LG Unveils N12.54 Billion Budget For 2025, Prioritizes Development Projects

The Chairman of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, Martins Nwigbo, has presented an appropriation bill of N12,548,352,099.75 for the 2025 fiscal year to the Khana  Legislative Assembly for consideration and passage.

Presenting the bill before the councillors, Nwigbo stated that the budget is  structured to consolidate the gains of his first 100 days in office while driving transformative growth across all sectors of the council.

According to the bill, 49.1 percent of the budget is for recurrent expenditures, amounting to N6,164,868,573.26, while 50.9 percent is for capital expenditures, amounting to N6,383,483,526.49 with a focus on infrastructural development, education, healthcare, electricity supply, economic empowerment, and agriculture.

He explained that the budget will be financed through statutory allocations, improved revenue generation, and partnerships with the federal and state governments, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and development partners.

Nwigbo,  appealed for legislative support for it’s speedy passage, emphasizing that the success of the budget depends on the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of the council.

He  reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and judicious fund management, urging for unity between himself and the lawmakers  to achieve the vision of a greater Khana.
