Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has inaugurated the newly modernized Rivers State Fire Service Headquarters Station in Port Harcourt. The facility, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and machinery, aims to strengthen the state’s emergency response capabilities.

Governor Fubara emphasized that the upgraded fire service will reduce the vulnerability of Rivers residents to fire disasters, providing timely assistance to victims and minimizing damage. He noted that the state was previously reliant on multinational companies for fire response, resulting in significant losses.

The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to providing quality services, protecting lives and property, and making living conditions comfortable for Rivers residents. He cited the recent response to a tanker incident on Woji-Elelenwo Road, where the Rivers State Fire Service successfully contained the situation.

Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Samuel Anya, described the project as a significant upgrade since the 1960s, featuring modern facilities, including a gym, sickbay, offices, and state-of-the-art equipment. The station is equipped with new fire trucks, eliminating the need for external assistance.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Mr. Clifford Paul, praised Governor Fubara’s efforts in transforming the fire service station into a modern masterpiece, enhancing the capacity of personnel and reinforcing their preparedness to respond to emergencies.
