Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has reassured residents of their safety, stating that the state is peaceful. He urged joint security personnel to respect human rights while on patrol duty.
CP Adepoju briefed the joint security team, comprising police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the military, before their daily confidence-building patrol. He emphasized the importance of caution, civility, and diligence, ensuring that the town remains peaceful.
The commissioner warned troublemakers to stay away, as the police are well-prepared to tackle any security breach. The joint patrol aims to ensure public safety and maintain peace in Rivers State.
This development comes as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has emphasized the importance of respecting human rights and upholding the rule of law in Rivers State. The NBA has also encouraged security agencies to maintain law and order while respecting fundamental human rights.
