The Uromi community is mourning the loss of an illustrious son, Dr. Simon Oriabure Osezuah, passed away on May 31st, 2025, at the age of 76. He was a trailblazer, known for his unwavering commitment to integrity, education, and philanthropy.
As the founder of Osezuah Cleaners Ltd, located at No 1 Zabayor Street in Benin, he made a significant impact on the community. Notably, he employed an American expatriate, showcasing his innovative approach to business. The company was a household name, sponsoring Indian films on BDS every Friday and bringing people together. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for education later led him to pursue academic excellence, becoming a senior lecturer at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
Dr. Osezuah’s legacy extends beyond his academic achievements. He was a pillar of support for many, sponsoring numerous students from Uromi and beyond, including Engr. Abraham Osezuah. His home in Benin was a haven for students on holiday, with visitors from virtually every village in Uromi.
His impact on the community is still remembered vividly, particularly his iconic underground house in off Old Agbor Road in Uromi, built in 1978. Dr. Osezuah’s dedication to education and philanthropy has left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
As the family prepares to lay him to rest, they invite friends, acquaintances, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating his life and legacy. The funeral rites will be announced later.
