A group of 95 women, representing over 1,000 organizations, who formed the defunct Women Wing of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has demanded appointments from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The women, who were instrumental in mobilizing support for Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign, feel neglected and sidelined two years into his administration.

According to Hajiya Rekiya Abdullahi, spokesperson of the group, the women are counting their losses and living in pain, having suffered while campaigning for the president. Despite their unwavering support and immeasurable contributions, none of their members have been recognized or rewarded with appointments.

“We stood firmly behind Her Excellency, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, crisscrossing the country, mobilizing support, and canvassing votes,” Abdullahi said. “But now, we’re left to watch from the sidelines while others who played no significant roles are being recognized and elevated.”

The group described the situation as “deeply disheartening, demoralizing, and unacceptable,” and warned that the “use-and-dump” approach risks eroding the morale of women who form a significant majority of the electorate.

The women urged President Tinubu to use his 2nd anniversary to correct the wrongs and demonstrate his appreciation for their loyalty and contributions by appointing some of their members into government.
