… says he didn’t disrupt operations
By Rosemary Okoduwa
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has denied allegations of disrupting Air Peace operations, instead accusing the airline of systemic extortion and poor customer service. Oshiomhole claimed that despite arriving at the airport on time for his flight, he was denied a boarding pass due to arbitrary policy enforcement.
According to Oshiomhole, Air Peace was selling tickets on the spot at higher prices to passengers who were willing to pay more, while denying boarding to those who had booked online at lower rates. He described this practice as “extortion” and criticized the airline for prioritizing profit over passengers’ rights.
The senator recounted his experience, stating that he arrived at the airport 40 minutes before his flight but was told that the check-in counter had closed. He claimed that other passengers who arrived after him were allowed to board, while he was turned back.
Oshiomhole also highlighted the plight of other passengers, including a lady who was forced to buy a new ticket at a higher price after being denied boarding due to alleged late arrival. He described the situation as “ruthless, primitive capitalism” and called on the federal government to intervene.
The senator questioned the oversight role of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and warned that continued injustice and exploitation could lead to deeper public anger and unrest. “When people give up hope, bullets will not stop them,” he said.
Oshiomhole’s allegations against Air Peace have sparked concerns about the airline’s practices and the need for greater accountability in the aviation sector.
