In a significant development ahead of the 2025 senatorial by-election in Edo Central Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Barr. Sergius Ogun, a former member representing Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency, has thrown his hat into the ring. Ogun’s decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and seek the senatorial seat has generated significant interest and hope among the people of Edo Central.
Rt. Hon. Barr. Sergius Ogun is no stranger to the people of Edo Central. Having represented Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and later moving to the Labour Party, Ogun has built a reputation as a dedicated and hardworking public servant. His experience and track record in governance have earned him a loyal following in the constituency.

According to sources close to the former lawmaker, Ogun’s decision to leave the Labour Party and join the ADC was informed by the coalition of political parties. It is believed that the former lawmaker saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of his people through the ADC and decided to seize it.
As the by-election approaches, Ogun’s campaign team is expected to intensify its efforts to mobilize support for the former lawmaker. With his household name and reputation, many believe that Ogun has a strong chance of emerging victorious in the election.
