The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved a ₦1 billion annual bursary for students of Edo State origin in tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on students and their families, promoting access to quality education and academic excellence.
The decision follows a passionate request from youth leaders during a recent town hall meeting. Governor Okpebholo pledged to support Edo indigenes pursuing higher education, and this bursary scheme is a fulfillment of that promise.
To ensure the scheme benefits genuine Edo State indigenes, eligibility will be determined through verification at the applicant’s Local Government of Origin.
This initiative aligns with Governor Okpebholo’s administration’s broader vision to enhance education, encourage academic excellence, and support the aspirations of Edo youths. By providing financial support, the government aims to empower students to contribute meaningfully to the development of the State and the nation.
Further details on application procedures and timelines will be announced by relevant government agencies.
This bursary scheme is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of Edo State students, enabling them to pursue their academic goals without undue financial burden.
