The Management of the University of Port Harcourt has issued a statement clarifying that Cynthia Chukwundah, the lady suspected of setting her lover ablaze in the Choba community of Rivers State, is not a student of the institution.
The university’s Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations, Dr. Sammy Kpenu, said that after thorough internal checks and verification of student records, the institution can categorically state that Chukwundah is not a student of UNIPORT. The university has extended its condolences to the families affected and assured the public that it is supporting efforts to ensure a proper investigation.
The university reiterated its commitment to student safety and urged the public and media to verify facts before publication. “We urge members of the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information and to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct a full and impartial investigation,” the statement added.
The university expressed deep regret over the loss of life associated with the unfortunate event and extended its condolences to the families affected. The institution is closely following developments and cooperating with the relevant authorities to ensure that the matter is properly investigated.
