The Edo State Government, through the Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), has opened a new chapter of collaboration with the Association of Private School Owners in the state.

The administration remains focused on supporting private schools through clear policies, institutional collaboration. The government also emphasized the need for transparency and integrity, particularly during public examinations. This engagement underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive educational reforms that leave no child and no school behind.

The meeting provided a platform to align private sector practices with government standards, especially in the areas of school registration, curriculum delivery, supervision, and examination conduct.

In a strategic move to strengthen the quality and integrity of education across all learning institutions, the government emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment and implementing friendly policies that will give private schools the needed support to thrive while upholding the highest standards of education.

This synergy marks a significant milestone in the journey towards sustainable education reform in Edo State. Together, public and private stakeholders are expected to raise the bar of excellence and ensure that the future of every child is safeguarded through quality, equity, and accountability.

Welcoming the association, the Director-General of the Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), Dr. Amen Ogbemudia, extended the warm felicitations of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, to the Association of Private School Owners. The Commissioner congratulated the group for their resilience, innovation, and sustained contributions to the education sector in Edo State.

Dr Amen Ogbemudia commended the efforts of the association in providing educational services to the populace, acknowledging the vital role private schools play in shaping the future of the state’s human capital. She emphasized the need for partnerships rooted in shared responsibility and mutual accountability to ensure that every child in Edo State, regardless of school ownership, has access to quality education.

As part of the engagement, DEQA formally unveiled its Mandate, Vision, Mission, and Core Values “PEACE-IC” to the Association, reinforcing its leadership role in driving quality, equity, and accountability across the education sector. The private school owners were encouraged to align with DEQA’s framework for sustainable school improvement and continuous quality assurance.

The engagement concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, shared responsibility, and a unified vision to move education in Edo State to enviable heights through collective effort.
