Prince Joe Okojie has emerged victorious as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Edo Central Senatorial District by-election, scheduled for August 16, 2025. The primary election, held in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area, saw Okojie secure 84 votes, surpassing his closest rivals, John Yakubu with 52 votes and Friday Itulah with 21 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Okojie thanked party leaders and delegates for their confidence in his candidacy. He pledged to offer effective representation and carry forward the developmental legacy of the PDP in Edo Central.
Party stakeholders and political observers believe the PDP is positioning itself strategically to retain the senatorial seat in what is expected to be a highly competitive by-election.
