Restoration of a Legacy: The Akpakomiza Wonder Returns with Power for the Future
Share the love

With the commissioning of 100 new buses for Edo Line Transportation, history is not only being remembered it is being reborn. This bold and visionary step by the Edo State Government is more than a public service project; it is a profound act of legacy restoration and generational honour.

As I stood watching the new fleet take its rightful place on our roads, I was overcome with emotion. For me, this moment is not just a public event. It is personal. It is the revival of a dream long carried in the heart of my late father, Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, whose selfless devotion to Edo people was etched into every road built, every institution established, and every life uplifted.

Dr. S. O Ogbemudia was not just a leader; he was a visionary who led with courage, foresight, and compassion. His life was an embodiment of service. Service not rooted in applause, but in genuine love for his people. The Edo Line was one of many dreams he championed designed to move our people not just from place to place, but from limitation to opportunity.

Today, that dream lives again. The Akpakomiza Wonder has returned, not as a relic of the past, but as a renewed symbol of progress and purpose. And for this, my deepest gratitude goes to our forward-thinking and people-loving Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Governor Okpebholo has shown, not in words but in action, that he understands the weight and worth of legacy. His decision to revive and expand Edo Line is a gesture steeped in wisdom, a courageous nod to history and a determined gaze into the future. In a time when many leaders forget the sacrifices that brought us this far, he chooses to honour them. He chooses to honour us.

His leadership reminds us that development must have a soul, and progress must remember its roots. In restoring this transport lifeline, he has given our people more than mobility. He has restored pride, dignity, and possibility.

As the buses roll out, so too does a new wave of hope. I see not just wheels turning, but the hands of history and destiny interlocking. The past and present walk hand in hand again. This is what true leadership looks like: continuity with honour, governance with grace, and vision with heart.

I am proud—proud of my father’s legacy, proud of our people’s resilience, and profoundly proud of our Governor, who understands that some wonders never die… they only wait for the right leader to bring them back.

Indeed, the Akpakomiza Wonder has returned with power for the future.

Dr. Amen Ogbemudia
DG DEQA Edo State.
