Ekiti Philanthropist Empowers 17 Outstanding Students with N100,000 Scholarships

In a heartwarming display of generosity, Dr. Oluwadare Owolabi, a renowned philanthropist, has awarded scholarships to 17 exceptional students from three secondary schools in Ekiti State. Each student will receive N100,000 to support their educational pursuits.

The beneficiaries were selected based on their outstanding performance in key subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science, Economics, and Mathematics. The students hail from Igogo Commercial High School, Ayede Grammar School, and Odo Oro High School, located in Moba, Oye, and Ikole Local Government Areas, respectively.

During the ceremony, Dr. Owolabi emphasized the importance of education and his commitment to supporting talented students. He noted that his gesture aims to encourage academic excellence and complement the state government’s efforts in improving education.

Dr. Owolabi shared his personal story, recalling his own experiences as a secondary school student in 1991. He attributed his success to hard work, perseverance, and divine favor, which inspired him to give back to society. The philanthropist promised to continue the scholarship scheme annually and potentially expand it in the future.

Dr. Owolabi praised Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his dedication to enhancing education in the state. He emphasized the need for collective efforts in sustaining the state’s educational progress, encouraging individuals and organizations to contribute alongside the government.

The philanthropist urged the students to remain focused, dedicated, and committed to their studies. He warned them against distractions that could hinder their success and encouraged them to strive for excellence.

The Onise of Odo Oro Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Jemilehin Aladesodedero I, commended Dr. Owolabi’s gesture, highlighting its potential impact on the students’ future. The principal of Odo Oro High School, Johnson Oladimeji, also expressed gratitude, describing the scholarship as a noble investment in the students’ future.
