Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that the state’s first flyover bridge, currently under construction at Ramat Park in Benin City, will be completed by April 2026, four months ahead of the initial schedule. The governor made this disclosure during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Esan North-East Local Government Area.
The flyover bridge, which was flagged off in November 2024, is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Benin City and transform the economy and social fortunes of the state capital. According to Governor Okpebholo, the project’s completion time has been reduced from 18 months to 12 months, reflecting his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking infrastructure delivery.
The contractor handling the project, CCECC Nigeria Limited, has reportedly completed 20% of the work, including seven pillars and underground cross beams. Governor Okpebholo has expressed satisfaction with the progress, emphasizing that his administration will ensure quality job delivery and adherence to specifications.
The governor also highlighted other ongoing road projects in the state, including the dualization of the Ekpoma-Ubiaja road, which is expected to see massive work after the rains. Additionally, the Ugboha Water Scheme has been revived, restoring water distribution to Uromi and surrounding communities.
As the Edo Central Senatorial by-election approaches, Governor Okpebholo urged constituents to support the APC candidate, Hon. Joseph Ikpea, to ensure sustained development in the region. The governor credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of the state’s development agenda, noting that it has accelerated progress on key projects.
With the flyover bridge project and other infrastructure initiatives, Edo State is poised for significant development under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership. The governor’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and services is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of Edo residents.
