Doctor’s Negligence Claims the Life Of a Woman In Edo

A medical doctor, Festus Ogheghele of Dickson Medical Centre in Uromi, Edo State, has been arrested following the death of a 36-year-old woman, Mrs. Susan Omoye Okporan, after a Caesarean section operation. The victim’s family accused the doctor of gross professional negligence, prompting a police investigation.

According to reports, Mrs. Okporan developed complications after the surgery on August 2, 2025, and died shortly after, while her baby survived. The Edo State Police Command confirmed the arrest, and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

An autopsy has been conducted, and the result is pending interpretation by police medical experts to determine the next course of action. The case has been taken over by the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

The incident has raised concerns about medical negligence and the need for accountability in private healthcare facilities. The police investigation aims to uncover the truth behind the tragic event.
