The Director-General of the Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), Edo State, has paid a working visit to the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Lagos State, to deepen collaboration and foster synergy in the education sector.
The visit focused on strengthening professional development for Quality Assurance Officers (QAOs), sharing best practices, and exploring innovative approaches to school inspection and monitoring.
Welcomed by the Head of the Lagos Office of Education Quality Assurance and senior officials, the DG of DEQA emphasized that well-trained inspectors are the backbone of accountability and quality delivery in schools. She commended Lagos for its structured induction training, refresher courses, and the deployment of digital tools in school monitoring, noting that Edo State is keen to adapt similar models to improve efficiency.

Both agencies identified key areas of collaboration, including:
Joint training workshops for QA officers.
Exchange programs for inspectors.
Sharing of digital inspection templates and ICT innovations.
Drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize collaboration.
They also agreed to convene a follow-up virtual meeting in the coming weeks to finalize action points and initiate the first phase of joint training programs.
In a related development, the DEQA DG also visited the UNICEF Education Director, Mr. Babagana Aminu, who expressed delight at DEQA’s drive for deeper collaboration, especially on monitoring and evaluation tools. He revealed that UNICEF is already working with the Edo State Government to onboard the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS), a digital platform designed to strengthen teacher data management, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making.

In her remarks, the DG reaffirmed Edo State’s commitment to building strong partnerships that will enhance the capacity of inspectors, improve teaching and learning outcomes, and raise the overall standard of education.
