The Director-General of the Edo State Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), Dr. Amen Ogbemudia, has showered glowing commendations on the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, describing him as “a leader with the hand that builds and the heart that truly cares.”

In a heartfelt statement issued on behalf of her sister and the entire Ogbemudia family, Dr. Ogbemudia expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for his remarkable show of fairness, empathy, and integrity in handling the ongoing demolition and urban renewal exercise across parts of the state.

She lauded Governor Okpebholo for ensuring that due compensation was paid to affected persons long before the exercise commenced, a gesture she said speaks volumes about his sense of justice and compassion for the people he leads.

“Long before the demolition exercise, His Excellency, in his usual spirit of fairness and empathy, ensured that compensation was duly paid. This thoughtful act reflects a leader who governs not only with authority but with conscience one who blends firmness with compassion and power with purpose,” she stated.

Dr. Ogbemudia noted that the Governor’s actions have once again demonstrated that true leadership is about people, not power; about building lives, not breaking spirits.

She further revealed that the family found great comfort in the Governor’s humane approach, emphasizing that Edo State is indeed blessed with a leader whose humility, kindness, and foresight continue to inspire hope and confidence in governance.

Speaking on the historic significance of the Sapele Road dualization, Dr. Ogbemudia recalled that her late father, Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, envisioned the road as a dual carriageway, a symbol of progress and modernity for the then young state.

“My father, who created Sapele Road, did so with the dream of a dual carriageway in mind a vision of progress and beauty for a greater Edo. Today, that vision is being brought to life under the purposeful leadership of Governor Okpebholo. I am confident that my father would be proud to see his dream fulfilled in such a noble and considerate manner,” she said.

Dr. Ogbemudia reaffirmed the family’s unwavering respect and admiration for Governor Okpebholo, describing him as “a compassionate statesman, a silent achiever, and a leader whose humility strengthens his authority.”

She concluded by praying for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, and strength for the Governor, saying,

“May the Almighty grant our dear Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, greater grace to keep building Edo with the hand that builds, and the heart that truly cares.”
