The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has decorated a fresh batch of newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force with their new ranks, in a ceremony marked by pride, applause, and renewed commitment to service.
The event, held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, reaffirmed the IGP’s resolve to reward excellence, dedication, and professionalism within the ranks of the Force.
The promotion exercise saw the elevation of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), four Commissioners of Police (CPs) to AIGs, and eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs).
Those decorated include DIG Mohammed Dankwara; AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba Nzukwen; as well as CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal, among others.
The officers were part of 923 personnel who successfully scaled through a rigorous and transparent promotion process conducted by the Police Service Commission (PSC), which included written assessments and interviews, following the recommendation of the IGP.
The ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including the former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South, Senator Simon Lalong; Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri; former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari; Senator (Dr.) Tony Nwoye (Anambra North); Senator Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central); and Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central).

Also in attendance were the Minister of State for Regional Development, FCT, Hon. Alhaji Ahmadu; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda; Chairman, Board of Trustees and Founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji (Chief) Dr. Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji, OFR; members of the Force Management Team, retired senior officers, and families and friends of the honorees.
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to uphold the highest ethical standards in the discharge of their duties. He urged them to lead with integrity, fairness, and a renewed commitment to justice, while serving as role models for their subordinates. The IGP also emphasized the importance of community-oriented and intelligence-led policing, and deploying innovative approaches to keep the Force ahead of emerging criminal threats.
“This promotion is not just a reward for your past achievements, but a challenge to sustain excellence. I urge you to lead by example, inspire confidence in your subordinates, and strengthen public trust through fairness, professionalism, and accountability,” the IGP said.
He emphasized that the welfare and professional growth of officers remain a key pillar of his leadership, noting that the Force would continue to support capacity development, inclusivity, and operational excellence at all levels.
The ceremony concluded with a celebratory atmosphere as officers, their families, and colleagues shared moments of pride and accomplishment.
