A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr. Dare Owolabi, has applauded the leadership of the party for endorsing the incumbent Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), as its governorship candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Owolabi, who is also a senatorial hopeful for Ekiti North, gave the commendation during a grand reception he hosted in honour of Governor Oyebanji’s affirmation as the APC flag bearer. The event, held at his residence in Odo Oro Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area, drew a massive crowd of over a thousand party faithful and supporters from across the area.
The atmosphere was festive and colourful, as APC members celebrated with music, dancing, and speeches that echoed confidence in the party’s unity and readiness for victory in 2026.
In his remarks, Owolabi a philanthropist and respected community leader commended the party’s leadership for its wisdom and consensus-building efforts, describing Oyebanji’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding performance and people-centered governance.
“With the way the APC has resolved its governorship nomination seamlessly, the party has shown great maturity and readiness to win the coming election convincingly,” Owolabi stated.
He further lauded both the state and national leadership of the APC for their ability to navigate challenging times, noting that Governor Oyebanji’s performance has elevated Ekiti State to new heights.
“Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated true leadership, humility, and commitment to service. His achievements speak volumes, and the party’s decision to support him for a second term is a clear endorsement of progress and continuity,” he added.
Owolabi urged all members of the APC in Ekiti to remain steadfast in their support for the governor and the party’s vision for the state, stressing that unity and loyalty are key to sustaining the state’s development.
“Our collective loyalty and cooperation are vital for the continued growth of Ekiti State,” he said. “This is the time for His Excellency, Governor Oyebanji, to once again show that he remains the father of all by extending his usual open arms to every member of the APC family.”
He appealed to aspirants who had earlier shown interest in the governorship ticket to remain committed to the party’s ideals, emphasizing that “the APC must always come first before individual ambitions.”
Owolabi also used the occasion to encourage eligible voters to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), which he described as crucial tools for civic engagement and political empowerment.
Expressing appreciation to supporters of his Irawo Owuro Project, Owolabi thanked them for their loyalty and dedication, assuring that the movement will continue to advance the cause of good governance and the progress of Ekiti State.
