The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah, has been inducted as an honorary member of the National Council for Women Societies of Nigeria (NCWS), using the occasion to call for stronger unity, collaboration, and mutual support among women across the state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the council to the Ministry, the Commissioner stressed that collective action remains the most effective pathway to advancing women’s development and deepening social inclusion. She described the Ministry as a shared platform that belongs to all women in Edo State, noting that government efforts can only achieve lasting impact when complemented by active grassroots participation.

According to her, women working together in love and unity become an unstoppable force capable of shaping policies and delivering tangible change in their communities. She urged women to consistently uplift one another, emphasizing that empowering one woman creates a ripple effect that positively impacts families, communities, and the state at large.

Mrs. Abdallah also highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration, encouraging women to shun division and embrace peaceful coexistence as a foundation for sustainable progress. She underscored the need to maintain confidentiality, build trust, and strengthen solidarity rather than fuel conflicts that undermine collective advancement.
The Commissioner further advocated for the expansion of the NCWS umbrella in Edo State to accommodate more women’s groups. Broader participation, she noted, would improve access to empowerment opportunities, economic support initiatives, and national level interventions designed to enhance women’s welfare.
In her remarks, the National Public Relations Officer of NCWS, Hon. Inumidun Taiwo, expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s warm reception and continued support for women-focused initiatives in the state. She described the council as the umbrella body of women’s organizations in Nigeria, committed to humanitarian services, advocacy, and empowerment programmes.
Hon. Taiwo reaffirmed the council’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with the Ministry in promoting policies and programmes that improve the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable populations across Edo State.
