Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed confidence that the state will deliver more than 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next presidential election, describing the anticipated support as a “fixed deposit” that is already secured.
The governor made the remark while receiving members of a pro-Tinubu support group at his country home in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, PhD, the group visited the governor to present various campaign visibility materials, including branded wrappers, shirts and other items, as part of efforts aimed at mobilising grassroots support for the re-election of President Tinubu.
Governor Okpebholo commended the initiative, noting that the gesture reflects the growing support and appreciation among Edo residents for the policies and programmes of the Federal Government under President Tinubu.
He described the voluntary contributions by the group as a demonstration of confidence in the leadership of the President and a clear indication of the people’s readiness to rally behind him.
“We commend our brother who brought these materials in support of our President because he is satisfied with what the President is doing for Edo people. For this reason, they have begun to make their own contributions,” the governor said.
He added that the development further reinforces the political resolve of Edo people ahead of the next general elections, which means our 2.5 million votes are already in a fixed deposit. It is not negotiable. We are happy to receive these items and we are grateful. The President will also be informed about this show of support,” he stated.
Earlier, the initiator of the project, Engr. Uwadiale Oziegbe, explained that the donation was inspired by the developmental strides of the Okpebholo administration across Edo State.
He noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to galvanize support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, adding that more campaign materials would be provided in the months to come.
The donated items include customised T-shirts, face caps and vests branded with the logo of the ruling party.
