Residents and indigenes of Udomi-Uwessan communities in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State have commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for what they described as remarkable developmental strides recorded across the area within a short period of his administration.

The commendation came as the governor embarked on a two-day working visit to communities in the locality to inspect ongoing projects and assess the level of progress achieved so far.

Speaking with journalists in Udomi, a youth leader in the community, Christopher Ogbe, said the governor has brought impressive transformation to the area through the execution of critical infrastructure and social development projects.

“We are very grateful to Governor Okpebholo. He is truly a blessing to our people. In less than two years, he has provided us with things we have long desired. Roads are being constructed and several important projects are ongoing. We are proud of what he is doing for our community,” Ogbe said.

Another indigene, Christiana Oyemere, also expressed appreciation to the governor, describing him as a compassionate and people oriented leader whose policies have positively impacted communities across the state. “Governor Okpebholo is a man with a good heart. We continue to pray for him because he always remembers our community,” she said.

During the inspection tour, Governor Okpebholo explained that the visit formed part of a two-day working tour designed to personally evaluate the progress of ongoing projects in the area and ensure that contractors adhere strictly to approved specifications.

“I am here on a two-day working visit to inspect projects and see the level of work that is ongoing. I am satisfied with what I have seen so far, and we will continue to ensure that the people of Edo State enjoy the dividends of democracy,” the governor stated.

Governor Okpebholo also attributed the progress recorded by his administration to the support and leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that improved federal support and policy direction have helped create an enabling environment for states to implement meaningful development initiatives.

According to him, the policies of the president have strengthened economic opportunities and enhanced the capacity of sub-national governments to deliver impactful projects for their people.

Among the projects inspected during the visit were the ongoing construction of a medical school, a hospital facility, and major road projects aimed at improving transportation and boosting economic activities in the area.

The governor also visited the site of the Ekpoma market currently undergoing reconstruction after it was destroyed by fire during protests that affected the area earlier in January.

Governor Okpebholo had earlier assured traders and residents that the market would be rebuilt to modern standards in order to restore commercial activities and provide a safer and more conducive environment for business.

The inspection visit attracted community leaders, residents, and government officials who accompanied the governor as he toured the project sites and interacted with members of the community.

According to a statement signed by Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, the administration remains committed to accelerating development across all parts of Edo State while ensuring that ongoing projects are delivered efficiently and to the benefit of the people.
