The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents that the ongoing construction of the Ramat Park flyover in Benin City will restore full operations at the Court of Appeal and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office, both of which have been adversely affected by persistent flooding in the area.

The Governor gave the assurance during an inspection of the project site, noting that the perennial flooding had significantly disrupted critical institutions and businesses around Ramat Park.
He explained that the completion of the flyover, alongside comprehensive drainage infrastructure, would provide a lasting solution to the environmental challenges that previously forced the affected institutions to scale down operations.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring full functionality to the Court of Appeal and INEC, expressing confidence that normal operations would resume upon completion of the project.
“Flooding in this area has threatened businesses and key government institutions, including the Court of Appeal and INEC. With the ongoing intervention, we are confident that normal operations will be fully restored after completion,” the Governor stated.

Providing an update on the project, Governor Okpebholo disclosed that the flyover bridge has reached approximately 90 percent completion, while drainage works stand at about 70 percent. He expressed optimism that the entire project would be delivered ahead of the peak of the rainy season to prevent further disruptions.
The Governor reiterated that the project forms part of his administration’s broader commitment to infrastructure development, noting that it will not only address flooding but also ease traffic congestion and boost economic activities within the area.
Also speaking, the site engineer, Femi Fatola, confirmed that work is progressing steadily and according to schedule. He noted that while the bridge construction is over 90 percent complete, significant progress has also been made on flood control measures.
Fatola assured that the long-standing flooding challenges in the area would soon be a thing of the past, adding that drainage works are nearing completion.
During the inspection, the Governor also visited other ongoing infrastructure projects, including the flyover at Sapele Road and road construction works at Charismatic Road and Upper Ekenwan Road, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to improve road networks and urban infrastructure across Benin City.
This statement was issued by Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Edo State, who noted that the administration remains committed to delivering impactful infrastructure projects that will enhance the quality of life for residents and support economic growth across the state.
