The Uromi/Uzea Concern Citizens (UUCC) has called on residents of Uromi and Uzea to sustain the momentum of development in Esan North East Constituency 11 by supporting the re-election of Rt. Hon. Marie Omozele Oligbi-Edeko, member representing the constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued to the public, the group described Oligbi-Edeko’s first term as one marked by “purposeful leadership and measurable impact,” noting that in less than three years, she has demonstrated that effective representation goes beyond rhetoric to tangible results that directly improve lives.
According to UUCC, her interventions across key sectors including security, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and empowerment have significantly strengthened community development and enhanced the wellbeing of constituents.
In the area of security, the lawmaker is credited with building and equipping a police station at the Federal Science and Technical College, Uromi, fencing the Amedokhian Divisional Police Headquarters, and reconstructing an abandoned police post upgraded to divisional status. She also facilitated the fencing of the Olinlin Police Station in Uzea and donated power bikes to local security networks to improve mobility and response capacity.
Her contributions to education have equally been described as impactful. At Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School, Uromi, she undertook the construction of a perimeter fence and gate as well as the renovation of classroom blocks to improve safety and learning conditions. Similar interventions include fencing projects at Olinlin Primary School, Uzea, alongside approvals secured for perimeter fencing in Ebho-Iyi Demonstration Primary School and Idumu-Egelean Primary School.
In healthcare, Oligbi-Edeko is currently constructing an ultra-modern health centre in Ebhoijie, Uromi, while also collaborating with the World Bank on a cottage clinic in Uzea. Notably, she facilitated the enrollment of elderly persons, widows, and other vulnerable groups into the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme by covering their premiums, granting them access to free healthcare services for a year.
On infrastructure, the commissioning of a 500KVA transformer in Efandion community has improved electricity supply and boosted economic activities in the area.
Beyond constituency projects, the lawmaker has also played a key role in legislative development, including advocacy for CONLESS salary review, drafting of the Financial Autonomy Bill, oversight of the first independently prepared Assembly budget, and promotion of staff training and institutional capacity building.
Describing her as a champion of people-centered governance, UUCC emphasized that Oligbi-Edeko’s leadership philosophy prioritizes essential needs such as healthcare, education, and social welfare.
The group therefore urged constituents to “continue the relay” by renewing her mandate, stressing that continuity in leadership will ensure the consolidation of ongoing projects and sustained development across Uromi and Uzea communities.
