NULGE President-General Urges President Tinubu To Expedite Local Government Autonomy Implementation

The President General of Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Implement the direct funding of Local Government accounts in line with the supreme court judgement of July 11, 2024, granting financial autonomy to local governments..

Comrade Ambali who stated this today in Lagos during the commissioning of Nulge guest house in Badagry added that there is no further justification for the delay in implementing the supreme court judgment on autonomy.

He added that the autonomy is the best achievement that this administration has done that received wide jubilation and commendation from wide and crannies of the country noting that he should not allow saboteurs to denigrate this laudable achievement.

Comrade Ambali commended the Lagos State president of Nulge,Comrade Sunday Ogunfowora Sewanu and his Exco’s for the success of building a guest house for Nulge Lagos in badagry.

He however charged them to continue relating in peace and unity that has now returned to the executive adding that their unity will bring more achievements to the state.

Earlier, the State President of Nulge, Comrade Sunday Ogunfowora Sewanu eulogised the president general, Comrade Ambali for his role in ensuring peace and unity in the state adding that his commitment and fatherly role in the union has helped ro secure a state secretariat as well as helped to stabilise the state from every crisis. “Your fatherly role has helped to stabilise us, you played a role in helping us to secure our secretariat, now this building too, we pray God to give you strength and wisdom as well as the grace to succeed in all your endeavours” he said.

Comrade Sunday noted that while embarking on the project it seems impossible but through consistency and commitment his excommunicated succeeded.

He added that the building is named after a former president of Nulge, Lagos State, Late Comrade Ogunyemi Babajide adding that the late Comrade fought for the union’s progress.

He however thanked all those who took out time to grace the occasion and wished them well as they journey back to their destinations.

In response, the daughter of the late president who represented the family, Yemisi Ogunyemi thanked the Comrade Sunday Sewanu for honouring their father post humously.

In the same vein. State President of Nulge, Oyo State, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun has described the achievement of Lagos President as Iconic. “The iconic edifice “first of its kind” in Badagry is monumental, laudable and truly appreciated.

I join other neighbouring states Presidents in Southwest and Nigeria at large to celebrate your success and acknowledge the impact you have made today.

Your footprints in the struggle for workers’ rights and welfare will remain indelible and we are confident that you will continue to champion the cause of good governance and improved working conditions for Lagos Nulgerians.” He said.

Dignitaries at the event includes, Nulge Deputy Nat President elect Comrade Rufus Babalola, Vice president elect Comrade Akeem Bello, National Auditor Elect, Alhaja Rashidat Olukoga, Ogun State President Adebayo Adefeso, Ekiti State President Olatunde Babatunde, Former Lagos President obasa, Chairman Olorunda LG Rasheed Ogunyemi, Chairman Ojo local government Abdul Sulaimon, Kabiasi Royal majestic Sano of lkoga Oba Fabiyi, LGSC rep Mr jimoh Musibau amongst others.
