Elele Shooting: Rivers Police Arrest Suspect, 4 Hospitalized

A violent attack occurred at Elele Roundabout on Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025, at approximately 7 am. The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that a patrol team from Elele Division responded swiftly to restore order after receiving credible intelligence about an unlawful assembly of suspected hoodlums.

According to SP Grace Iringe Koko, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, an unidentified assailant opened fire during the attempt to address the crowd, resulting in multiple injuries. Four people were reported injured as of press time.

The armed hoodlums fled the scene, but one suspect was apprehended, and a single-barrel gun was recovered. The injured victims received medical attention at various hospitals in Elele.

A manhunt is currently underway for the fleeing suspects, some of whom have been identified as members of the local vigilante group OSPAC. The arrested suspect and the recovered firearm will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The Rivers State Police Command assured the public that all perpetrators involved in this criminal act will be apprehended and brought to justice. Commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju urged residents to remain calm and provide any useful information that may assist in the ongoing investigation, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
