Hon. Vincent Ose Akhere, newly appointed Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Edo State on Education, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Staff, Hon. Mallam Gani Audu , to express his gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo for the appointment.

During the visit, Hon. Akhere revealed the challenges faced by students in Edo State under the previous administration, particularly highlighting the issue of Junior Secondary School (JSS3) students being denied their certificates. He specifically mentioned the tenure of Commissioner Joan Oviawe, under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, as a period when this issue persisted.

In response, Hon. Gani Audu assured Hon. Akhere that the current administration is committed to rectifying the wrongs of the past. He drew comparisons with other states, such as Abuja, where certificates are issued promptly after examinations. He assured that the new administration would prioritize the welfare of students and ensure that such issues are addressed.

Hon. Audu also extended an open invitation to Hon. Akhere, assuring him of his availability whenever needed to facilitate the smooth execution of his duties.

This development signals a new chapter in Edo State’s education sector, with promises of reform and improvement under the leadership of Governor Okpebholo.
