As part of efforts to ensure that pregnant women in Ohordua community in Esan South East local government area of Edo State, enjoy quality and proper medical health care and as a result reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, the Council Chairman, Hon Louis Imhandegbelo, has commenced the construction of the Ohordua Maternity home.
The chairman, was represented by the Vice Chairman of the council area, Hon Susan Otekpen, who performed the foundation laying ceremony, she disclosed that the aim of the project is to provide better healthcare services for mothers and newborns in the community.
According to her, the Maternity home will serve as a vital healthcare facility which will basically cater for the needs of expectant mothers and infants.
She added, “The establishment of this maternity home will not only address the existing healthcare gaps but also contribute to the overall well-being and development of the local population.
“The foundation laying ceremony symbolizes the commencement of the construction of the maternity home, which is anticipated to be a state-of-the-art facility equipped with modern amenities and specialized medical personnel. The establishment of this much-needed healthcare facility will ensure that pregnant women in the community have access to proper medical care.
It’s expected that the completion of the Ohordua Maternity home project will meet the primary health needs of thousands of residents of the community, including mothers and their newborns.
