The Oredo Local Government Council on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, made history when it launched the online platform and unveiled two Strategic Pillars to manage the data of all citizens seamlessly and efficiently of the Council.
The Executive Chairman of the Oredo Local Government Council, Dr. Tom Obaseki at the groundbreaking launch event of the first Oredo online Services platform held at the Urhokpota Hall, in Benin City, described the new initiative as a fundamental step toward automated access to services.
The Council Chairman informed that the two Strategic Pillars, “OredoPay and OredoRev”, present to users easy applications, effective data management, eliminate excessive billing, and provide 24/7 service.
Dr. Tom Obaseki noted that the new initiative offers a huge opportunity to internationalize and digitalize the Oredo Local Government Area.
He identified the OredoRev as an initiative that seeks to drive transparency in the internally generated revenue of the Council.
Oredo Pay, according to him, is a seamless and more efficient platform designed to enable citizens and residents to access services such as Local Government of Origin/Identification Certificates, Marriage Registration, Burial permit, and Street naming, payment of fees rendered without appearing physically.
He said henceforth there will be no more cash payments in Oredo, as all payments will be made through the Oredo website portal www.oredopay.ng.
According to him: “The platform’s automated access to services ensures that there is little or no room for error, reducing the need for physical visits to the local government offices.
“The platform’s reliability and flexibility are also significant benefits, as it allows people to access services anytime and anywhere in the world. Oredopay can offer applications for Service, processing, and approval for services such as Local Government Certificate of Origin, Street Naming, Burial Permits, and Marriage applications” he explained.
The Chairman stated that just two weeks ago Oredo Local Government Area launched the Oredo Business Support and Investment Facilitation Office, stressing that in the next 90 days, the council will establish 15 training market centers to reduce street trading within the Metropolis.
He described the innovation as the beginning of another transformative journey, where he added that it will attract commercial investments which will in turn boost job opportunities for oredo inhabitants.
Earlier, Joshua Oladunjoye, an officer of the TaxTech Team partnering with Oredo Government Council in his remarks described Oredo Pay as the official payment portal where stakeholders can easily conduct all payment transactions.
Similarly, on his part, the Chairman of the Local Government Services Commission Hon. Chief Tom Uloko JP described the launch event as the beginning of a new era in Oredo Local Government Area, adding that the introduction of digitalization in providing services to the people is a great innovation and the first of its kind in the 18 LGA of Edo State.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Taskforce on Edo State Internally Generated Revenue, Services EIRS, Hon. John Osagie Inegbedion appreciated Dr. Tom Obaseki for his innovation and creativity in placing Oredo LGA on the world map. He said the initiative will bring about accountability and transparency in the government.
Several Other speakers including HOLGA, Osaini Igbinigie, Leader of Market Women, Madam Blacky, and the Enogie Of Umegbi Community His Royal Highness, Anthony Osayemwenre Osagie in unison expressed confidence in the transformative initiative of the Council, urging all to support it.

Oredo Heads of Departments, Supervising Councilors, and the project organizing team led by the Special Assistant on Internationalization to the Council chairman, Ronnie Jacobs attended the event.
