Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that his administration has successfully restructured the state’s security architecture, flushing out kidnappers from key zones and drastically reducing cultism. Speaking at a Democracy Day event in Benin, the governor revealed that over 2,500 security personnel have been trained by the Nigerian Military and Police and are being deployed to keep streets, schools, and villages safe.

According to Governor Okpebholo, the security overhaul is part of his administration’s efforts to build a new Edo that works, protects its people, and delivers tangible results. He commended President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a “true hero of our time” for his efforts in moving the nation forward.

The governor highlighted his administration’s achievements, saying, “We are no longer standing in the shadows. We are rising. We are building a new Edo, a State that works, that protects its people and that delivers real, tangible results.” He attributed the success to deliberate strategy, community intelligence, and the creation of the Edo State Security Corps.

Governor Okpebholo assured the people that his administration would continue to work for the good of all, upholding the values of culture, unity, and progress that define their journey as a people. The event was attended by prominent government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, and members of the State House of Assembly.

In a notable development, Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Labour Party. The governor’s leadership and policies have also garnered praise from other dignitaries, including Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, and Senator Mathew Uroghide.

The event marked a celebration of Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democracy, with Governor Okpebholo emphasizing the importance of democracy as a call to justice, unity, and purpose.
