Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association,NMA in Rivers state, Dr Tamunokuro Diamond on Tuesday,22nd July, Commemorated the World Brain Day, a day dedicated to raise awareness about brain health for all ages.
The Rivers NMA in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the organization,Dr Siene Orogun emphasized that caring for the brain is essential for maintaining cognitive function and overall well-being at every stage of life.
The NMA Rivers spokesperson listed some key strategies to promote brain health throughout various phases of growth and development which include,balanced Nutrition by Incorporating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Foods like fatty fish (rich in omega-3 fatty acids), nuts, berries, and leafy greens which are particularly beneficial for brain health.
According to Dr Orogun, drinking plenty of water is also good to ensure optimal brain function.
She disclosed that regular physical exercise,mental stimulation, lifelong learning, social engagement,quality sleep,stress management,regular Health Check-ups are other ways of promoting brain health.
NMA Rivers in the statement added that it’s never too early or too late for people to start taking care of their brain.
