Gov. Okpebholo, Others Join Prof. Ize-Iyamu in Special Thanksgiving

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. (Mrs) Idia Ize-Iyamu, was celebrated by family, friends, and associates at a special thanksgiving service today to express gratitude to God on her appointment as the 7th CMD of the tertiary health institution.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo graced the occasion as well as other top government functionaries, party chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), business moguls, religious leaders from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) as well as staff and students of UNIBEN/ UBTH.

In a sermon titled “From Glory to Glory,” Prof. Iyasen Dabor, Pastor-In-Charge of Zone Trinity Sanctuary, RCCG, praised God for the blessings in Prof. Ize-Iyamu’s life and family. He charged all to serve God diligently, assuring that God’s glory would be evident in their lives.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu expressed gratitude to God for her appointment as CMD of UBTH on August 7, 2025, and other breakthroughs in 2025, including her appointment as Dean of the School of Dentistry, UNIBEN. Her husband, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, commended Governor Okpebholo for his support in her appointment.

Other notable personalities at the thanksgiving including Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; former Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu; Senator Matthew Uroghide; and Edo APC State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, among others.

The occasion was a testament to Prof. Ize-Iyamu’s esteemed position and the impact of her appointment on the UBTH community.
