On this day, Wednesday, 12th November, I wish to take a moment to celebrate a Leader whose vision, courage, and commitment to education have profoundly transformed Edo State His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa
It has been a remarkable year of purposeful leadership, and I have witnessed firsthand the dedication of a Governor who understands that education is the bedrock of our state’s future.
Under his stewardship, over 68 schools have been reconstructed and renovated, providing our children with safe, modern, and conducive learning environments.
The Edo State Bursary and Scholarship Board was established, with a historic ₦1 billion approved as a take-off grant, ensuring that no deserving student is denied education due to financial limitations.
5,000 additional teachers have been recruited, strengthening our education workforce and improving teaching and learning across the state.
Ambrose Alli University’s monthly subvention was increased from ₦41 million under the previous administration to ₦500 million, revitalizing the institution and restoring hope to staff and students alike.
New hostels and lecture theatres are under construction at AAU, reflecting a commitment to enhancing the academic experience.
The Igueben College of Education has been reopened, and the new School of Nursing Sciences is taking shape at Udomi, Edo Central, broadening access to quality tertiary education.
Massive road constructions and rehabilitations across the three senatorial districts, construction of the first ever gigantic flyover at ramat park and another one flagged off at Sapele road by Adesuwa junction etc.
These initiatives are not mere statistics; they are the embodiment of a Governor who leads with purpose, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility. I have personally seen how His Excellency’s passion for education has inspired administrators, teachers, and students to dream bigger and aim higher.
As we celebrate these achievements, I pray that God Almighty continues to grant Governor Okpebholo wisdom, strength, and vision to carry Edo State to even greater heights. His leadership is a reminder that when vision is paired with action, transformation is inevitable.
