BeeTv News, one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing independent media platforms, will on Saturday, October 18, 2025, celebrate its second anniversary with a national discourse on the role of the media in shaping Nigeria’s future.
The event, billed for 3:00 p.m. at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Airport Road, Benin City, will hold under the theme: “Nigeria’s Future: Bleak or Bright? The Role of the Media.”
Expected to attend are top political leaders, academics, civil society actors, and media professionals in what promises to be one of Edo State’s most significant gatherings of the year.
The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will serve as Distinguished Guest of Honour, while the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, will feature as Special Guest of Honour. A leading national political figure, who also chairs the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, will be honoured as Father of the Day.
The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Eddy Erhagbe, a renowned historian from the University of Benin, who will dissect the challenges and prospects of Nigeria’s democratic and socio-economic future, with a focus on the role of the media.
One of the highlights of the anniversary will be the conferment of the BeeTv News Icon of the Year Award on Senator Adams Aliu Eric Oshiomhole, CON, former Governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North. Organizers say the award recognizes his enduring contributions to governance, leadership, and national discourse.
Another landmark moment will be the unveiling of the BeeTv News Foundation, a non-profit initiative that seeks to promote media literacy, strengthen grassroots journalism, and support community development across Nigeria.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ms. Best Orator, Managing Director and CEO of BeeTv News, said the anniversary represents more than a celebration.
“In just two years, BeeTv News has become a credible voice for the people, delivering fearless journalism that inspires accountability. This year’s theme will raise difficult but necessary questions about Nigeria’s future, while reaffirming the vital role of the media,” she noted.
