The Director-General of the Edo State Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), Dr. Amen Ogbemudia, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his recognition as New Telegraph Governor of the Year (Education) by New Telegraph.
In a heartfelt message, Dr. Ogbemudia described the award as a well-deserved national acknowledgement of Governor Okpebholo’s bold and strategic commitment to repositioning education in Edo State. She noted that the honour reflects the governor’s clear vision to strengthen the state’s human capital base through deliberate investments in infrastructure, policy reforms, teacher development, and quality assurance mechanisms.
According to the DEQA boss, Governor Okpebholo’s leadership has ushered in a renewed focus on accountability, improved learning environments, and measurable outcomes across primary and secondary schools. She emphasized that under his administration, education has not merely remained a policy item but a transformative agenda designed to secure the future of Edo children.
Dr. Ogbemudia further stated that the recognition serves as encouragement for stakeholders within the education ecosystem to intensify their commitment to excellence, transparency, and service delivery. She affirmed that DEQA remains aligned with the governor’s reform driven blueprint, ensuring that standards are not only set but consistently monitored and maintained across schools in the state.
She also eulogized the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, for his collaborative leadership and steadfast dedication to implementing policies that are translating the governor’s vision into tangible results. She described his synergy with relevant agencies as instrumental in sustaining momentum within the sector.
“This award is not just a personal honour for His Excellency,” Dr. Ogbemudia noted, “it is a validation of the collective effort of educators, administrators, policymakers, and partners who are working tirelessly to raise the bar of education in Edo State.”
The DG expressed confidence that the recognition will further inspire the administration to deepen reforms, expand access, and consolidate gains already recorded in the state’s education sector.
