The Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen collaboration with the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in advancing justice, inclusion, and social protection for vulnerable groups across the state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the association, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah, described FIDA as a strategic partner in expanding access to justice and safeguarding the rights of women and families. She stressed that sustained collaboration between government and legal practitioners remains critical in addressing cases of abuse, discrimination, and violations of fundamental rights.
Mrs. Abdallah emphasized that no individual is above the law, regardless of status or profession, and called for justice delivery systems that are responsive, transparent, and effective. She advocated stronger institutional partnerships, improved referral mechanisms, and intensified advocacy to combat gender-based violence and all forms of discrimination.
The Commissioner further assured that the ministry remains open to constructive engagement and innovative initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable populations. She reiterated government’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote women’s participation in governance and decision making processes.

In her remarks, the Edo State Chairperson of FIDA, Princess Francisca Elema, outlined the organisation’s mission to promote, protect, and advance the rights and welfare of vulnerable women. She reaffirmed FIDA’s readiness to collaborate with relevant institutions to enhance access to justice and strengthen legal protections.
The association also formally congratulated Mrs. Abdallah on her appointment, expressing confidence in a productive partnership that will deliver meaningful impact for women and families in Edo State.
