The League of Women Voters in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, has paid a courtesy visit to the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, seeking strategic collaboration to advance women’s empowerment and leadership inclusion in the state.

The delegation was led by its Chairperson, Barr. Anthonia Asagba, who described the organization as a non-partisan body committed to promoting women’s active participation in leadership and governance. She noted that the visit aimed to explore areas of partnership with the ministry, particularly in empowering more women to contribute meaningfully to societal development.
Barr. Asagba emphasized that increasing women’s representation in leadership positions remains critical to building a more inclusive and progressive society. She added that the group’s core focus areas include advocacy, civic engagement, and capacity building, stressing that collaboration with relevant government institutions is essential for achieving sustainable impact.


Also speaking, the Financial Secretary of the group, Dr. Diana Cornelius, underscored the need for sustained efforts in promoting gender equality and expanding opportunities for women in governance and decision-making processes.
Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, commended the delegation for its advocacy and proactive engagement. She reaffirmed the Edo State Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where women can thrive socially, economically, and politically.
The Commissioner highlighted the importance of partnerships with organizations like the League of Women Voters in driving gender inclusion and sustainable development, assuring the group of the ministry’s readiness to collaborate on impactful initiatives.
The visit concluded with both parties expressing a shared commitment to building a strong partnership aimed at enhancing the welfare, capacity, and leadership potential of women across Edo State.
