The Edo State Government has encouraged young people across the state to remain focused, resilient and consistent in pursuing their dreams, stressing that discipline, determination and hard work remain the surest pathways to lasting success.
The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, gave the charge when she received the Executive Producer of South South Next Top Model Season 11, Mr. Joe Joe Dominic, alongside his team and contestants, who paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry to seek guidance and mentorship on building successful careers in modelling and life.
Speaking during an interactive session, Hon. Abdallah urged the aspiring models to remain true to their individual aspirations rather than attempting to imitate others. She noted that every successful person has faced challenges but achieved greatness through resilience, diligence and unwavering commitment to their goals.
She reminded the contestants that while life presents many obstacles, such challenges should be seen as opportunities for growth rather than barriers to success.
The Commissioner further reaffirmed that the Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, remains committed to empowering young people through the administration’s SHINE Agenda, which prioritises creating an enabling environment for youths to discover, develop and maximise their talents for personal fulfilment and societal progress.

Hon. Abdallah commended the Executive Producer of South South Next Top Model, Mr. Joe Joe Dominic, for providing a platform that not only showcases talent but also mentors and positively shapes young people. She expressed confidence that the values and life lessons embedded in the initiative would prepare contestants for success both on and off the runway.
Also speaking, Dr. Mercy Bello Abu, a Management Consultant and Clarity Mind Reset Strategist, emphasised the importance of setting SMART goals as a practical roadmap to achieving personal and professional aspirations.
She urged the participants to remain humble regardless of their accomplishments, describing humility as a key virtue that opens doors to greater relevance, growth and opportunities.
The Ministry’s Director of Finance, Mrs. Mary Ikhajiagbe, also encouraged the aspiring models never to give up in the face of adversity. She stressed that the journey to success is rarely easy but assured them that perseverance, consistency, self-discipline and self-motivation would ultimately yield rewarding results.
Earlier, the Executive Producer of South South Next Top Model Season 11, Mr. Joe Joe Dominic, said the visit was designed to expose contestants to moral guidance, mentorship and life counselling from respected leaders and institutions.
According to him, beyond the glamour of the runway, many young models require sound guidance and practical life skills to successfully navigate their careers and everyday challenges.
The interactive session concluded with words of encouragement from the Ministry’s management, reaffirming the Edo State Government’s commitment to youth development, mentorship and creating opportunities that inspire young people to realise their full potential.
