Porters FC Wins UBTH Interdepartmental Games, Receives ₦500,000 Reward from CMD

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, has congratulated Porters FC on emerging champions of the hospital’s Interdepartmental/Interprofessional Games Competition.

Addressing the victorious team, Prof. Ize-Iyamu commended the players for their discipline, resilience, coordination, and exceptional team spirit throughout the tournament. She noted that their commitment, determination, and hard work earned them a well-deserved victory.

The CMD expressed delight that the competition provided an opportunity for staff from different departments and professional groups to interact, build stronger relationships, and promote teamwork beyond their routine workplace responsibilities.

She also applauded all participating teams for their enthusiasm and dedication despite the demands of their professional duties, describing the tournament as a celebration of unity, wellness, and collaboration within the hospital community.

In recognition of Porters FC’s outstanding performance, the hospital management presented the team with a cash reward of ₦500,000.
Speaking on behalf of the team, the Team Manager, Mr. Godfrey Osagbai Olubayo, expressed appreciation to the Chief Medical Director and the hospital management for creating an inclusive platform that encouraged staff participation regardless of cadre.

The visit culminated in the formal presentation of the championship trophy to the Chief Medical Director and the hospital management as a symbol of the team’s gratitude for the unwavering support they received throughout the competition.
