The Boy’s Brigade of Nigeria, Edo State Council, has invested the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as its Grand Patron, in recognition of his commitment to good governance, youth development, and the promotion of peace and security across the state.
The investiture ceremony, held on Friday at the Government House, Benin City, was led by the State President of the Boy’s Brigade, Dr. Bibowe Braie, who lauded Governor Okpebholo’s people-centred leadership and the visible impact of his administration.
Dr. Braie commended the Governor for the enactment of the Anti-Cultism and Anti-Kidnapping Laws, describing the measures as bold initiatives that have strengthened public safety and restored confidence among residents. He also praised the Governor for restoring salary payments to staff of the Edo State College of Education, which had been suspended under the previous administration, noting that the intervention had significantly improved workers’ welfare.
“You have saved many lives through these actions, and they deserve commendation,” Dr. Braie stated.
He further applauded the administration’s ongoing infrastructural development, particularly the construction of the Ramat Park Flyover and the reconstruction of Sapele Road, describing them as clear evidence of the Governor’s commitment to the development of Edo State.

The Boy’s Brigade President appealed to the Governor to further support the organisation by allocating land for its activities, providing a monthly subvention, and donating a 32-seater bus to strengthen its youth focused programmes across the state.
Responding, Governor Okpebholo expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him, describing the Boy’s Brigade as a reputable organisation dedicated to instilling discipline, leadership, patriotism, and moral values in young people.
The Governor noted that the history of the organisation, founded by a schoolteacher, highlights the invaluable role of educators in nation building and character development.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition and impressed by the calibre of individuals gathered here today. I have great respect for teachers, especially Sunday school teachers, because they serve as grassroots mentors who help shape the character and future of our young people,” the Governor said.
Governor Okpebholo directed the leadership of the Boy’s Brigade to formally present its requests to the state government, assuring members that their proposals would receive due consideration.
“Write to me officially so that government can process your requests. We will begin looking at the issue of land, and I will also support your organisation personally in whatever way I can,” he assured.
The Boy’s Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Edo State Government in advancing youth development, promoting discipline, and contributing to the building of a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous Edo State.
