The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as BIBI, has reaffirmed that he remains the party’s only duly nominated candidate for the 2027 general election, dismissing contrary claims by other individuals as false and misleading.
Aguebor made the declaration in a statement issued on July 28, following the successful conclusion of the party’s ward, local government and state congresses, which he said further strengthened the credibility of the NDC’s internal democratic process.
According to him, he emerged victorious in the party’s primary election, and the outcome has been consistently upheld by the National Executive Committee (NEC), which recognises only the winner of the duly conducted primary as the party’s authentic candidate for the Edo South Senatorial District.
He disclosed that he has officially received the party’s nomination form through the Edo State Chairman of the NDC, Engr. Olukoga, confirming his candidacy for the 2027 general election.
Aguebor dismissed the activities of individuals laying claim to the party’s senatorial ticket, insisting there is no ambiguity regarding the NDC’s candidate. “There is only one duly nominated candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress for Edo South Senatorial District, and I am that candidate,” he stated.
He urged party members, supporters and stakeholders to remain united and focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 polls, rather than allowing themselves to be distracted by what he described as baseless claims.
The senatorial hopeful also announced that his campaign team would soon unveil its organisational structure, policy direction and grassroots mobilisation strategy across the seven local government areas of Edo South Senatorial District.
Reaffirming his commitment to quality representation, Aguebor pledged to offer principled leadership, practical solutions and people-oriented representation if elected. He thanked party members and supporters for their unwavering confidence and support throughout the nomination process, expressing optimism that the NDC would approach the 2027 general election as a united and formidable political force.
