The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who announced the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the virtues of compassion, humility and service.
He also called on citizens to celebrate peacefully and responsibly, while praying for peace, unity and the progress of the nation.
The Federal Government assured Nigerians of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the celebration.
