The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with relevant organisations to promote women empowerment, strengthen families and improve the welfare of vulnerable citizens across the state.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, stated this when members of the Remi Tinubu Support Organisation (RETSO), Edo State Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Benin City.
The delegation, led by the Edo State Women Leader of RETSO, Mrs. Roselyn Eki Shina Peters, was at the Ministry to congratulate the Commissioner on her appointment and explore areas of collaboration in support of grassroots development and social empowerment.
Receiving the delegation, Abdallah said the administration of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo remained committed to an inclusive development agenda where no citizen is left behind. She stressed that while the Ministry’s core mandate focuses on women, children and vulnerable groups, its broader social development responsibilities require attention to the entire family, noting that strong families are essential to building a stable and prosperous society.
According to her, “Under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, we are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind, women, men, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable members of society.”
The Commissioner commended the philanthropic and empowerment initiatives associated with Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and appreciated RETSO for its grassroots-oriented activities. She noted that government alone could not address all the social and economic challenges confronting citizens, stressing the importance of partnerships with credible organisations, development groups and other stakeholders.
Abdallah therefore assured the delegation of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with RETSO on initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women, children, families and vulnerable persons across Edo State.
Earlier, Mrs. Shina Peters reaffirmed RETSO’s commitment to supporting the developmental vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda. She noted that empowering women was critical to building stronger families and communities.
She expressed RETSO’s willingness to collaborate with the Edo State Government in advancing skills development, social welfare, education and human development at the grassroots, stressing the importance of collective efforts in improving the lives of citizens.
The visit culminated in the presentation of an appreciation card to Hon. Abdallah by the RETSO delegation in recognition of her appointment as Commissioner and her leadership of the Ministry.
