Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has appealed to residents to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, arguing that the administration’s economic reforms are beginning to produce improvements in development and governance.
The governor made the appeal on Wednesday during a visit to the palace of the Ojuromi of Uromi, His Royal Highness Zaiki Anselm Edenojie II, in Esan North-East Local Government Area. He was accompanied by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on his administration’s achievements, Okpebholo highlighted ongoing road construction projects, the upgrading of primary healthcare centres, regular payment of workers’ salaries and the construction of schools as key areas of intervention aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
He acknowledged that infrastructure development takes time to produce visible results, noting that several road projects had been completed while construction work was progressing on others across the state. According to him, the projects would improve transportation, ease the movement of goods and people, and stimulate economic activities.
On electricity, the governor disclosed that a 100-megawatt power plant was expected to commence operations in Edo South in the near future, alongside another project designed to contribute an additional 16 megawatts. He said the projects formed part of his administration’s efforts to address the state’s persistent power challenges.
Okpebholo attributed the progress recorded by his administration partly to the support of the Federal Government, stressing the need for Edo State to align with the Tinubu administration. He maintained that continued cooperation with the federal authorities would help sustain development and enable the state to benefit from ongoing national reforms.
Earlier, the Ojuromi of Uromi, speaking on behalf of the Esan Enigies, commended the governor for his efforts to accelerate development across Edo State. He acknowledged the administration’s ongoing interventions and encouraged the governor to remain committed to delivering on his promises to the people.
The traditional ruler also prayed for God’s continued blessings and wisdom for Okpebholo, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the affairs of the state. Describing the governor as his son, he offered words of encouragement and prayed for the successful completion of the anticipated eight-year tenure of the administration.
The visit provided an opportunity for the governor to engage with traditional institutions and seek their support for his administration’s development agenda, as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
