Edo 2024: AAC Is Alternative Party For Edo people -Oberaifo

Dr Udoh Oberaifo, the African Action Congress (AAC) Governorship Candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo on Saturday disclosed that his party was an alternative to rescue Edo state and its people from political, social and economics quagmire it has found itself.

Speaking shortly after he officially unveiled his deputy, Lord Osunde who was a pioneer Edo Obidient Movement Leader to the general public in Benin, Oberaifo said the state had experienced the era of PDP and APC without tangible results.

He noted that the poverty rate occasioned by bad economic policies, decayed infrastructure and insecurity in the state which the APC and PDP have not been able to address was making Edo people want alternative.

“With the movement of our deputy governorship candidate, Lord Osunde, who before his defection to the party was a staunch member and leader of the Labour Party and Obidient Movement in the state to our party, it tells you that the people wants alternative to APC and PDP.

“As a matter of fact, Osunde was a pioneer member who organized the first two millions Obidient movement walk in the state and the structures across the three senatorial districts in the state, and has found it important to join our party, ” he said.

Speaking on his agenda for the state, Oberaifo said “My government, if elected will stand for true leadership, a new perspective, vibrancy and innovation. With all these we will provide good leadership and governance to all Edo state residents and citizens.

“The first keyword of my agenda is Humanity First, which is People first before politics, before power mongering, godfatherism, personal gains. If you put people first in all you are doing, that means you will get it right.

“When you see the people, through the “eyes of God”, that is the ways you want God to see them and you will definitely get it right, ”

Speaking further, Oberaifo said he planned to develop the state by creating an enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs ) to thrive.

“I will want to empowers small businesses as I had done from my working experience with Master Card foundation as a consultant on the transforming Nigeria youths programme where MasterCard targeted to revamp over 40,000 small businesses in Nigeria.

“The only way governments can solve the problems of unemployment and control fiscal policy is to empower the SMEs. When they do that, that is where they will be able to address and reduce all this whole problems of dollar and others.

“When SMEs are empowered and are doing well, they will in turn create jobs there by reducing unemployment rates because there will be more jobs for the youths and young school leavers, ” he added.
