The Chairman of the Media and Publicity Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 election, Mr. John Mayaki, has described the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, before the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal as poorly designed, miserable and like someone chasing shadows.
Mayaki assured residents and APC loyalists to remain calm, as the tribunal resumes hearing tomorrow saying, “the PDP does not have a case but merely chasing shadows”.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared Governor Monday Okpebholo of the All progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2024 election.
Mayaki in a statement said, “the APC won the election squarely and it was better for the PDP and her candidate to congratulate the winner, Senator Monday Okpebholo, in the spirit of sportsmanship and join in the task of moving the state forward.
“I want to thank the good people of Edo State for the resounding mandate they graciously gave to the APC and its candidate, Governor Monday Okpebholo, who has done so much in such a very short time. Just today, he clinched two months in office and has recorded a great feat.
“His achievements in such a short time indicates that great things will be achieved in the days and years ahead. The leaders and members of our great party worked hard for the victory they are enjoying today and nothing will reverse it because the PDP has no case in court.
“When you see people bandying incredible, false and baseless figures here and there, the ones they conjured from their imaginations, then you should understand that they are not only miserable but merely chasing shadows. They forgot that they will be asked to prove every single fact in the course of the trial which commences tomorrow”, Mayaki said.
